Samoa



A Siapo is like a Samoan quilt but not really a quilt. It has a whole bunch of pictures together that show what happens in the village.

They cut bark off a tree and soak it, then they cut the rough stuff off, then they soak it again then they soak it again and dry it. Then they make dye for the earth and leaves and bark and stuff and use it to paint the pictures.

Here are some photos of how we are doing, we will hopefully have a completed Siapo really soon!!

  3. Thankyou Tessa and Jacqui, Room 1 did a great job!! Fingers crossed that remaining panels are dry so we can complete it and put it on here : )
