Geometry

Our next maths unit is on geometry.

Here is a really cool game as an introduction to angles as part of our unit.

It takes a while to load but is worth the wait!

Current Events

Today for Current Events we talked about the rugby union in Auckland that has decided to cap their rugby scores at 35. We discussed whether this should be done across all children's sports. Check out our responses below.

Our Stuck Stories

We have been focussing on developing the depth in our writing by using the 'show don't tell' technique and by describing the setting and character.

To make things interesting we also included the problem of the character being stuck in some form.

We are currently learning about hazards and how to stay safe. A key idea we have come to as a class is that we need to be prepared for potential hazards by knowing what to do.

We analysed 2 songs about crossing the road, one by the wiggles and one by the funky monkeys. We completed a PMI chart to find the Positive aspects, Minus aspects, and things we'd improve.

We then used this information and created our own crossing the road songs based on the following criteria:

- It has to include 3-4 messages about how to cross the road safely.
- The tune should be based off a nursery rhyme or other basic tune.
- Where possible the song should rhyme.

To make things interesting we're running another poll to see who you think wrote the best song using the criteria.

So please click on the Road Safety Song Page at the top of the blog, check them all out and vote using our poll on the side bar under the calendar.
