Our goal last week was to try to reduce our paper impact. We intended to do this via 3 ways:
1. When you have finished with paper rip it into pieces or shred it and put it into a bucket of water to make new paper.
2. Sending any messages through email, instead of writing notes.
3. Use a whiteboard or blackboard to write your lines.
Overall we made some slight progress but nothing to be really proud about. I guess it's really hard to break some habits!!!
We attempted to make some recycled paper using the scraps from our recycling bin. Here is Shicaela modelling the results.
Shicaela and Jacqui have written a review about our recycled paper:
The paper that we made is really rough and bumpy! When you use the paper the pen or pencil sinks into the paper. Also the paper is really thick and soft. One side of the paper is smoother than the other because that side was at the bottom. The paper breaks really easy. The difference between normal paper and made paper is normal paper is smooth and it is stronger. Is this worth making? No because it is really hard to use and us children will break it and it is bumpy and your pen sinks in when you write.
So it has been an experience!! I guess time will tell to see if we learnt anything from this exercise
