Exciting stuff!!!!

When Mr Baylis logged onto our blog page this morning we received a comment about our Mind Map.

It was from a man called Toni Krasnic a professor who specialises in exactly what we discussed about. He offered some extra suggestions for our 'Managing Self' mind map and these have been included below and are in yellow.

Room 1 would like to thank Toni very much for taking the time to read our blog and offer suggestions. We warmly invite him and anyone else to freely add any further ideas/suggestions to the learning we do.

Today we focussed on the Key Competency 'Managing Self'.

We brainstormed what we think this means as a class, these are listed in blue on our mind map below.
We then looked at the curriculum book Mr Baylis has to help him teach and added anything we forgot, these are listed in green on our mind map below.

We have set weekly goals around 'Managing Self' and Mr Baylis will try to snap us doing this whenever possible.

Weekly Rag - Thoughts from the classroom

We have been writing about our teachers Mr Baylis or Mrs Crawshaw for Draft writing. Blair thought that it was awesome and he thought it was funny by saying that Mr Baylis smells like a skunk. We thought we were lucky that we didn't get told of! We have been having a couple of astle tests for our Maths and Reading. The whole school is doing a sports fun afternoon on Thursdays and we would thank you to the people that help us with it and to Mr Baylis for orginising it for us. We are learning about possessive nouns for spelling. On Tuesday Room 1 and Room 10 Performed into front of the whole school for Assembly . We did a Irish dance and it was called a Reel. It was alot of fun and we really enjoyed it.

This week our writing focus has been describing a character. The twist is that we are not allowed to directly describe the looks about this character. Instead we need to describe what sort of person this character is, e.g. His voice booms so loud it smashes glass.

Our topic is: My teacher is the sort of person who'd....

Here are some completed ones, click on the name to check them out. Makes for some interesting reading!! How have we done??

If you could describe one of your teachers how would you do it? Feel free to comment below!!

Lip Sync - Key Competencies

Today Mr Baylis introduced us to the Key Competencies. We talked about what we think they mean and why we think they are important.

We then decided to see how we are using the key competencies when creating our lip syncs for tomorrow's competition. Here is our mind map.

Weekly Rag - Our thoughts from the classroom

Firstly we need to say sorry for missing out next week - we've been flat out in Room1!! Roughly 12 people from Our class went on Wednesday 9th to the Spragg banner We did really well but not quite good enough to win the banner. We did win the points trophy and 2 others. Our classroom is doing this really cool Lip Sync competition and if they win, their group gets 100 moola each so vote for your favourite. This week we are doing descriptive writing about a girl that has lost her nose. This week we have been learning about common and proper nouns. For theme we have been doing adaptation. On Tuesday we went out for a fun and challenging game of Narley. Today at morning tea there was a great game of cricket . Today at lunch the singers are going to practise. Jacqui & Mason's group are going to practise their lip Sync as well.

From Mason and Jacqui.

Here in Room 1 we pride ourselves on being a team and developing ourselves as learners. As a part of this we do a bit of team/building activities based around the key competencies.

Our challenge this week is to have a lip sync competition. We have put ourselves into groups, chosen our songs and are already practising like mad!! The criteria is:

- You need to mouth the lyrics of the song in the right place.
- Every group member performs together.
- You need entertaining dance moves that are suitable for the music.
- Keep in time with your group.

Mr Baylis will record our performances and put them on here. He will then try to create a poll and we would like you to assess and vote on the best performance.

Today Mason brought some piglets in to show the class. Here he is to tell you about it.

I took some piglets to school one pink and one spotty one and they were very loud. They were KuneKune pigs and they were very little and I did not bring all of them . When they're scared their tails uncurl and when they have a feed there tails curl up . From Mason.

Here are some photos.
